Workers Comp Rate Review

Workers compensation insurance companies in Delaware submit a rate application as a group once a year, and then each company uses that group application as a base for its rates. The Insurance Commissioner must review and approve the rates.

In 2005 and 2006, Commissioner Denn held a public hearing on the combined workers comp insurance rate application, allowing the public as well as businesses and labor groups to comment on the proposed rates. Prior to Commissioner Denn, a public hearing had never been held on these rate applications. The Commissioner also hired an independent actuary with experience in workers comp to review the proposed rate increases.

Commissioner Denn's decision on the 2005 workers compensation rate application can be found here.

To comment on the 2006 workers compensation rate application:

The Department of Insurance will accept public comments on the Delaware Compensation Rating Bureau's loss cost filing through the end of business on Monday, November 13, 2006.  The filing can be found at http://www.dcrb.com/shared/d_contents.htm.

Comments, addressed to Commissioner Denn, can be emailed to julia.blevins@state.de.us, faxed to (302) 739-4765, or mailed to 841 Silver Lake Blvd., Dover, DE, 19904
